Beaconinside was founded in 2013 by mobile and retail experts with the vision to provide the most accurate insight into a customers’ offline behavior. Today, with customers in more than 50 countries, the Berlin-based company is a leading international provider of a Proximity Data Management Platform for the retail, industry and hospitality sector.
Michael founded his first company in 2006 and developed and manufactured electronic devices for the housing industry. The company was sold in 2008 to ista Deutschland, European market leader for metering services. His first pure digital startup – DeutschlandCoupon – was an online couponing platform, which was acquired by the Bonial Group in 2010. As VP Business Development at kaufDA, Michael was responsible for the expansion into new industries and markets. Prior to that, he had worked several years in the Pre-Opening team of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company in Germany, Doha/Qatar and Dubai and also kept his focus on store openings as regional sales manager for a national food store chain in Germany. All experiences combined were the perfect prerequisite for founding Beaconinside in 2013. Michael has a degree in International Business Administration from the Zeppelin University (ZU) and besides Beaconinside, he invests in startups and acts in several advisory boards.
Before founding Beaconinside Cornelius worked as VP Mobile at kaufDA. He defined and executed the mobile product strategy and increased the mobile revenue shares from 0 to over 50 percent within 24 months while establishing pre-installation deals with Samsung. In 2012 he started to work as Manager Mobile C2C at eBay leading a mobile innovation project and a mobile quality initiative, which utilized a variety of insight channels. This project was awarded with the “EU Steely-Eye Award” in 2013. Moving forward in 2013 Cornelius was promoted to Manager Mobile Experiences at eBay. In this position he was responsible for the strategic and day-to- day product management of the eBay mobile experiences in the German market. Cornelius has a degree in Computer Science and Economics and Operations Research from the University of Mannheim.
Stephan Uhrenbacher has a pre-eminent position in the German start-up scene. Among others he was founder of the private accommodations rental platform an the rating platform Qype. In 2012 Qype was acquired by Yelp for 50 million US-Dollars. In August 2015 Stephan Uhrenbacher founded FLIO: an app that optimizes your stay at the airport. His expertise in location-based services with the corresponding business models for Qype and FLIO, is a valuable addition
to the Beaconinside advisory board.
Mario Schwegler is CEO of the Boost Group, a leader in shopper marketing, collectibles, promotions and loyalty programs in Europe, which is working among others with COOP, Carrefour, Royal Dutch Shell, Mondeléz, Nestlé. Until 2012 Mario Schwegler was managing director of arvato Loyalty & Promotion, where he shaped the European loyalty and e-commerce business of Bertelsmann arvato. Beaconinside profits from his experience in the execution of customer loyalty programs as well as shopper activation for brands and retail.
Daniel Wall is co-founder of Wall AG in Berlin. Over the past 31 years he has held a variety of positions in the family-owned enterprise. From 1999 on, he was director of marketing and sales. Between 2007 and 2015 he was chairman at Wall AG. Since 2016 Daniel Wall is an active investor in the Berlin start-up ecosystem.
Alexander Gösswein is Managing Director Central Europe at Criteo. Alexander Gösswein has about 20 years of experience in the marketing and media sector with leading positions at Yahoo! (Overture) and Microsoft Advertising. Before joining Criteo he built up goviral Germany, which has been acquired by AOL Europe in January 2011.
To support innovative and non-profit ideas we initiated the Beaconinside CONCEPT AREA. This platform enables universities and start-ups to test and develop their location-based projects in a real environment across large infrastructure installations. The projects span from indoor navigation, and proximity added value services to proximity marketing, process optimization and asset tracking.
